About Mark L Hoch, MD

Mark Hoch, MDDiplomate American Board Integrative Holistic Medicine

My journey to holistic/integrative medicine started in my first semester of medical school. I realized that I needed to go beyond the confines of western medicine to have a more complete understanding of health to truly help people to be well. Since that time in 1984, I continue to study the health systems of the world to be able to offer my clients all effective and safe methods of diagnosis and treatment for their health concerns.

Prior to medical school I majored in biological sciences with a concentration in neurobiology and behavior at Cornell University. I completed my medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh where I was a member of the medical school’s curriculum committee. I then completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Connecticut, and became Board Certified in Family Medicine.

Teaching is also an important part of my career and has included mentoring medical students, residents, and practicing physicians in my office and through academic appointments in the departments of family medicine at the University of Connecticut, Columbia University, University of Minnesota, and at the Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota’s Academic Health Center.

I am a Founding Diplomate (Board Certified MD) of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIHM). I am also active in the holistic medical movement nationally and am a past President of the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA) and now Co-Chair of the Past Presidents Council of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, the leading associations of physicians and healthcare practitioners devoted to mind/body/spirit medicine since 1978.

What People Are Saying

"Integrative medicine is all about choices and  Dr. Mark Hoch's integrative practice provides patients with the best of both worlds: the knowledge and training of Western modalities and thousands of years of earth-based wisdom from ancient Eastern traditions.  Dr. Hoch effortlessly combines these potent methods to provide the most thorough care I've ever experienced by a medical professional. His vast knowledge of healing allows him to avoid highly-invasive tests employed by many Allopathic docs because his tool chest of alternative treatments contain a similar, yet more gentle, approach to wellness that makes you feel safe and optimistic. He listens to your concerns, evaluates the condition and prescribes a well thought-out plan  to return your body to homeostasis. Dr. Hoch allows you to participate in your own healing which gives you a deep satisfaction of empowerment with regard to reclaiming your health. He's solved all my medical issues in the past 4 years and I highly recommend his intelligent brand of healing."
